Former Sewage Works

Site Description:

This site is situated between Blossom Lane and the M4 motorway. The Council considers it to have capacity for part of the site to be developed for approximately 88 dwellings at a medium density. The developable area of the site is limited by the pylon and by the power lines crossing the site. The site was previously a sewage treatment works which is now vacant. There may, therefore, be a requirement for decontamination work.

Concerns about this site:

• Substandard access. Blossom Lane between the existing houses and the site is very narrow. Furthermore, vehicles accessing the site would most likely use Crown Lane, which is also very narrow.
• These is no contiguous footway from the site to the village centre. Footways, where they exist, are extremely narrow
• The site is probably contaminated by heavy metals and other contaminants from sewage
• The site is affected by traffic noise from the M4 motorway.
• The pylon and power lines crossing the site give rise to health concerns and potential problems with interference to radio and electronic equipment, particularly in rain and foggy weather.
